Hi All!
Are there any firmware for DIR-100 Rev A that will support switch functionality? As far as I know there is such official firmware for DIR-100 Rev B (http://ftp.dlink.ru/pub/Router/DIR-100/Firmware/VLAN_Switch/). May be there are any other unofficial firmwares?
PS What is the differens betwetn Rev A and Rev B? |

1) As far as i know -> no.
2) I don´t know about the existence about unofficial firmwares.
3) Only small difference in hardware parts. H/W = Hardware Revision
4) Don´t forget that a DIR-100 is only a simpel cheap SOHO Internet Gateway and NOT a professional router with full features for everything what home users never need to use. :wink: |

@Gairigo
If it is so, then we can expect such official firmware for Rev A, because we have official VLAN_Switch firmware for Rev B.
But it has strange name - zdemo_dir100_V200_sw_b5.bin. What does this 'zdemo' means? |

A) If it is so, then we can expect such official firmware for Rev A, because we have official VLAN_Switch firmware for Rev B.
B) But it has strange name - zdemo_dir100_V200_sw_b5.bin. What does this 'zdemo' means?
@lyolic
A) Another built in CPU modell is also than another hardware revision! Never use firmwares like "RevA" for "RevB". Only if the file is named like "RevAll"
B) Don´t ask me, i´m not a russian D-Link employer :!: :smoke:
Maybe it´s the game "Tenchu Z" !?
Because a similar zdemo file is also in the russian D-Link folder for Triple-Play. See here:

I thought that firmwares are developed globaly and not by different divisions of Dlink ;) Also I saw on ftp.dlink.de archive under the GPL license. Does that mean that firmwares are developed under the open license so they can simply be recompiled from one revision to an other? It is interуsting that firmwares on Russian dlink site have version 2 - may be it is new version that have extended functionality and soon will be available allover the world.
However I'm going to buy this device, because for less than 20 euro is very cool to have a switch with VLANs :) |

A) You think wrong because there are also a lot of different things like the provider protocols which are not equal to all ISP´s around the world.
B) Yes it means that, but it means not that all firmware are developed for all hardware revision. Mostly each hardware revision needs own firmware version.
C) Maybe or maybe not - Please ask for that the russian D-Link support. They are the guys who released thoose firmwares you ask for, and not we! :wink:
D) Do what you like to do. But don´t forget a DIR-100 ist a simply SOHO internet gateway.
E) Can we close with this status? |
